US Issues Travel Advisory to Nigerians With Dual Citizenship Over Passport Use
The United States has issued a travel advisory reminding Nigerians who hold dual citizenship to comply with passport regulations when travelling internationally. According to the advisory, dual nationals are encouraged to use the appropriate passport when entering or leaving countries where they hold citizenship, as required by local immigration laws.
In a statement shared on its official X account on Sunday, the mission said the requirement applies to all U.S. citizens, including children who hold dual nationality.U.S. citizens are REQUIRED to enter and depart the United States on a U.S. passport. This requirement applies equally to U.S. citizens, including children, who are dual nationals,” the mission stated.
The guidance is intended to help travelers avoid delays, entry restrictions, or other complications at border checkpoints. US authorities emphasized that citizens should familiarize themselves with the passport requirements of both countries before making travel plans
The U.S. Mission also advised American citizens living abroad, including those residing in Nigeria, to ensure their U.S. passports remain valid before making travel plans.plan to travel to the United States, make sure you do so with a valid U.S. passport.
